“I had a fantastic time on this tour yesterday! Although I have lived in Manhattan for 20 years, this tour revealed parts of the city that I had no idea existed or have only seen as background shots in films. The guide, …, put everyone at ease with her friendly demeanor and obvious enthusiasm for the beautiful, quirky, and often poignant, historical details of the sites we visited. So pleased with the value and quality of service. I am not particularly informed about architecture and was surprised that the she was able to deliver so much information in such an entertaining format. Her ability to improvise when the hectic city intruded was superb. Looking forward to checking out of this company’s tours soon!”
“The Alternative Art Tour was awesome. The guide was knowledgeable and skilled in presenting the information on an ever changing landscape of street art. I would recommend this to anyone without hesitation”
“This walking tour was outstanding. [The Tour Guide] was able to masterfully balance the conversational heaviness of slavery with the positive energy of the railroad and its supporters. It is informative, allows you to see a little of the city, and enjoyable. I would recommend this walking tour to anyone who lives in or visits NYC.”
“The guide was really knowledgeable, easy to understand and answered any question we asked. To get to know the details about how the slavery started in New York was really interesting and scary at the same time. The Slavery and Underground Railroad tour is a must when visiting New York.”
“Fascinating and informative tour, included general info about NY history and the history of slavery, and a pleasant not too strenuous walk around Lower Manhattan. The conclusion was very powerful as well. Guide …, with an advanced degree in History, knew his material, and answered numerous follow-up and other questions with detail and depth. Great tour!”
“An educational and informative tour. The information was delivered clearly and the tour was well-paced for all those attending. I learned a lot about slavery in the early days of the city, and would strongly recommend this tour to anyone with a thirst for knowledge.”
“I took this Gospel-tour two weeks ago, solo as a visual impaired person (no peripheral sight). The tour guide made everything to make it easy for me to enjoy this tour. Our guide knew many interesting facts, and attending the Gospel-service at Brooklynite Tabernacle was amazing. You must also stay for the sermon, but you do that with pleasure to respect the church community. A must-do in New York on a Sunday.”
“My daughter and I had a wonderful time with the alternative arts walking tour in Brooklyn. Our tour guide was wonderful. She was very knowledgeable and made me view streets arts in a very new way. We had a plenty of time to take photographs. It was really a neat way of learning more about New York. I also liked that we stopped at a local coffee shop. It was nice to relax a bit, participate in the local economy, and have a chance to sit down. We had two other walkings tours, which were all very good, and wish that there was this component of stopping at a coffee shop at each tour.”
“… our guide, was a mine of information with tremendous enthusiasm and knowledge of the area. The walk was well paced and covered the history of the Bronx from its origins to the present day. Murals, the birth of hip-hop, the Grand Concourse were all covered in detail. [The Tour Guide] was an excellent guide and this walk has greatly enhanced my knowledge of this vibrant New York borough. I have no hesitation in recommending this tour to anyone interested in urban history and development. Thanks, … .”
“This tour was interesting, full of information and amazing. It was wonderful to be armed with the history of gospel before being born away by the choir and soloists at the service. Our guide … was wonderful and she clearly loved her job. She shared not only her beautiful voice but hey soul add well. This tour is a MUST and i think it will stay with me for a long time.”
